Supaul, Bihar (PTI): A portion of an under-construction bridge over the Kosi River in Bihar's Supaul district collapsed on Friday morning, trapping several workers below the wreckage.

The bridge, being built for the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), is a vital connection between Supaul and Madhubani districts. Two companies are collaborating on the project with an estimated cost of Rs. 984 crore.
District authorities confirmed the death of one worker and revealed another sustained injuries. Rescue efforts are ongoing to locate and free the remaining trapped individuals.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, responsible for road construction, ordered a swift investigation into the incident. He assured appropriate action against those accountable and fair compensation for the affected families.
The collapsed span involved pillars 153 and 154 of the 171-pier bridge. NHAI officials are working to determine the cause of the collapse and prevent similar incidents in the future.
