Meanwhile, officials say that the trend of staff members going missing is due to the fact that Canadian law is flexible and lets people apply for asylum after entering the country.
The story says that Pakistani flight attendants have been leaving their jobs after working on a flight to Canada since 2019, and the number has been going up lately.
At least seven PIA cabin crew members went missing in Canada while they were on duty last year.
A representative for PIA said that two cabin staff members who arrived in Toronto from Lahore did not show up for work on their flight back in December 2023.
It was time for the flight to go back to Islamabad, but the waiter did not show up in Toronto. Someone from the national flag carrier said, "The flight had to go back to Islamabad without the crew."
After arriving in Canada in November and December of 2023, it was stated that members of the PIA crew, including Ayaz Qureshi, Khalid Afridi, and Fida Hussain Shah, remained settled there.
The spokesperson added that one crew member who had fled while on duty a number of years ago has subsequently settled down in Canada and is now providing guidance to other crew members who are contemplating applying for asylum.
In addition, he mentioned that with the intention of preventing similar events in the future, the PIA has been working along with the authorities in Canada.
