Pankaj Udhas passed away in Mumbai at the age of 72 on Monday. The family said that the funeral will be held in Mumbai.

Anup Jalota mourned Udhas' death, remembering his friend. Jalota told ANI, "My friend is gone. Pankaj Udhas, a famous Ghazal vocalist, died. I lost my pal." He praised the trio's chemistry and musical talents. Jalota said, "He took Ghazal to every household and made a place for himself in people's hearts." She also remembered their combined concerts.
Jalota revealed Udhas' ill condition and regretted not meeting him sooner. He also discussed their Khazana Ghazal festival, which promotes youthful talent and ghazals.
Pankaj Udhas, born in Jetpur, Gujarat, on May 17, 1951, was known for his passionate ghazals and cinematic contributions. In 1980, his solo album "Aahat" launched his career, followed by "Mukarar," "Tarrannum," and "Mehfil." In addition to his solo work, Udhas sang playback in Hindi films including "Naam," "Saajan," and "Mohra." His classics include "Chitthi Aayi Hai," "Chandani Raat Mein," and "Na Kajre Ki Dhaar."
